Hiring: Senior CPA – Tax Return Signer & Reviewer (Remote | EST | Up to $100K)

About Ledger Labs

Ledger Labs is a U.S.-based accounting firm with over a decade of experience providing Virtual CFO and tax services to e-commerce, real estate, and professional service clients nationwide. We operate entirely remotely and emphasize accuracy, communication, and well-structured workflows over volume or long hours.

We are expanding our tax department and are looking for a licensed CPA who has direct experience signing, filing, and performing final review of tax returns.

Position Overview

This role is responsible for overseeing the full tax compliance cycle — from review through signature and e-filing — for a defined group of clients. You’ll work closely with our internal team to ensure every return meets professional and regulatory standards before submission.

This position is remote, full-time, and structured for consistency — no mandatory overtime or weekend hours, even during filing season.

  • Verify accuracy and completeness of workpapers and supporting documentation.
  • Provide technical review and feedback to preparers before returns move to final stage.
  • Maintain compliance with IRS and state regulations; manage extensions and filing deadlines.

Client Interaction

  • Communicate with team members to answer clients on missing information, review comments, and filing status.
  • Coordinate responses to tax notices or correspondence with taxing authorities.
  • Deliver practical recommendations to improve client recordkeeping and compliance readiness.

Process Management

  • Track return status, due dates, and quality-control steps within firm systems.
  • Contribute to workflow improvements as the department expands.
  • Maintain documentation supporting every return signed and filed.

Required Qualifications

  • Active U.S. CPA license (required).
  • At least 5 years of public accounting experience preparing, reviewing, and filing individual and business returns.
  • Demonstrated experience signing and e-filing returns under your own credentials.
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and Drake preferred.
  • High attention to detail, clear communication skills, and consistent follow-through.
  • Experience with e-commerce, real estate, or multi-state clients is a plus.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Pay: Up to $100,000 per year
  • Type: Full-time (1099 for first 12 months; eligible for employee conversion after review)
  • Hours: 40 per week, Monday–Friday (first half of day must overlap with 8 AM–12 PM ET)
  • Bonus: Performance-based incentives
  • Location: Remote (U.S. only; EST preference)

Why This Role

  • Full autonomy in your review and signing process.
  • Structured workload with predictable hours.
  • Direct involvement in shaping a growing tax department.
  • A firm that values professionalism, transparency, and realistic deadlines.
